Para começar, Paula Shugart a presidente da Organização Miss Universo confirmou a assinatura de um contrato de dois anos par realização do MISS USA no mais novo resort de Las Vegas. A edição de 2009 será no dia 19 de abril quando a sucessora de Crystle Stewart será coroada numa cerimônia transmitida pela NBC.
Para muitos, o MISS UNIVERSO já é certo no mesmo resort em julho ou agosto. Após a candidatura da Croácia ter balançado com a crise mundial e uma hipótese de Dubai, a imprensa reporta que Donald Trump e a MUO estão com negociações abertas com o Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority para fechar a realização do concurso de 2009 na cidade. Las Vegas já foi sede em 1991 e 1996 e o LVCVA é um dos departamentos de turismo mais ativos do mundo e não perde um evento. Cabe ressaltar que capacidade hoteleira da cidade é uma das maiores do mundo e trabalha numa média de 75% de ocupação o ano inteiro. O número de quartos que ficam ociosos corresponde a toda capacidade hoteleira de cidades como o Rio de Janeiro.
